Overview
Battery Notifier is a free, open-source desktop application for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This policy explains what data Battery Notifier collects (spoiler: none) and how the app and website operate.
Desktop App — Data Collection
Battery Notifier collects zero personal data. The app:
- Has no telemetry or analytics
- Makes no network calls whatsoever
- Does not require an account or login
- Does not store any data outside your machine
- Runs entirely offline
Battery Data
Battery Notifier reads your system's battery status through native OS APIs. This data (battery percentage, charging status, time estimates) is used only in real-time to display your battery level and trigger notifications. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted.
Settings Storage
Your notification preferences and app settings are stored locally on your device and encrypted at rest — using DPAPI on Windows and AES-256-GCM on macOS and Linux. Settings never leave your machine.
Website — Analytics
The Battery Notifier website (batterynotifier.com) uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and GDPR-compliant. No personal data is collected, no cookies are set, and no data is shared with third parties. The desktop app has zero analytics.
Website — Donations
Donations are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment information. All payment data is handled directly by Stripe under their privacy policy.
Website — Feedback Form
The feedback form is processed by Formspree. If you submit feedback, your email (if provided) and message are sent to the developer via Formspree. We do not sell or share this information.
Open Source
Battery Notifier is fully open source under the MIT License. You can inspect every line of code on GitHub to verify these claims yourself.
